Weddings at St Barnabas
If you are thinking of tying the knot, we would love to be part of your big day. We will help you to prepare for it and to make the service as personal as it can be.
The restored St Barnabas Church offers a beautiful setting for both the marriage ceremony and the reception afterwards. Come and have a look around for yourself and you will see that we can help you to create a day to remember.
You can get married at St. Barnabas if you live in the parish or if you have been worshiping with us for at least six months. If one or both of you has been divorced, we would love to have a chat with you to help ensure that your marriage to one another will be on the firmest of foundations.
Baptism is about becoming a follower of Jesus in his church. It is the beginning of a journey of discovery as we grow in our relationship with Him. You may not know much about Christianity but the wonder of childbirth and the arrival of your baby has drawn you to it. We are all at different stages of our faith journey and would be only too happy for you to join us.
Baptism is also a wonderful opportunity to thank God for the birth of a new baby and to welcome him or her into our midst.
Sometimes, the baptism is of an older child and every effort is made to explain the service to them in a simple but meaningful way.
While adults may well combine baptism with confirmation, if someone wants to take it one step at a time, we are happy to celebrate with you on the way.
Occasionally, we can include baptism in our main act of worship; otherwise we baptise children shortly after that service ends, at 1pm. Once a booking has been made, Freda, our vicar, has a meeting with each family to explain the different stages of the service and the promises which parents and godparents will make.
Contact Freda if you would like to arrange a Baptism or find out more.
Memorial & Funerals
The loss of a loved one is distressing for anyone and our aim is to offer comfort and hope in assisting with the preparation of a funeral and supporting you afterwards. If you would like a church service the restored St Barnabas Church provides a lovely backdrop for remembering someone close.
Many services are held at the local crematorium and we will gladly take a service for you there as well.
We are also happy to hold memorial services at a later date if you would like to have one.
