Our Children and Families Missioner, Bethan has worked hard to keep in touch with children and their families during the pandemic. If you haven’t already met her, you can watch Bethan’s welcome message here!
Bethan set up our St.Barnabas Families@Home YouTube channel and there’s lots to see on there if you haven’t already tuned in. To subscribe to the YouTube channel and find the weekly videos follow this link.
She posts an online Children and Families Service every 2nd and 4th Sunday with games, songs, bible teaching and craft activities for the whole family to enjoy from home. Young church is a key part of our life here at St. Barnabas and parents, carers and children of all ages will find a friendly welcome, a safe environment, and age-appropriate activities and groups.
Naturally we have had to adapt during the pandemic and activities we offer run slightly differently but the response we have had so far to what we have been able to do has been fantastic. Bethan has linked with lots of families and does some wonderful work with children at St. Barnabas school.
Sunday Holy Communion – now that we are back in church (booking still essential), it’s great to see children coming in and we can offer the following:
Creche – at the back of the church is our creche and on a Sunday during the service children aged 0 – 18 months can use the space. An adult will need to accompany their child. Capacity is limited and social distancing is required. Please ask us for more information.
Sunday Kids Space – in the Harbour Cafe on a Sunday during Holy Communion, children age 2 – 11 years can enjoy different activities, for example colouring and reading or watching one of Bethan’s videos. Children under 5 need to be accompanied by an adult please. Due to social distancing there is only space for 15 children and we will be dependant on volunteers to run these sessions so please bear with us. The cafe isn’t open for refreshmennts. Any queries, please ask!
In addition to our Sunday morning activities, children are invited to special services at Christmas and Easter.
For more information on all Young Church activities please contact Bethan via email: email@example.com
The Lighthouse at St Barnabas is a lovely modern, bright and airy venue that met our needs perfectly. The team were accommodating, making us feel very welcome and ensuring our needs and those of our delegates were met throughout the day.
