St. Barnabas welcomes children and young people, because Jesus welcomes children and young people.
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me. Don’t stop them, because God’s kingdom belongs to people who are like these children.”
Parents, carers and children of all ages will find a friendly welcome, a safe environment, and age-appropriate activities and groups.
For very young children our special Coracle room becomes a cosy crèche called Toddling Tugboats on Sunday mornings, with toys, books and a special craft activity to introduce very little children to Jesus.
For children of school age, our Young Church groups, Harbour Heroes and Lighthouse Keepers meet on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month alongside the regular 10.30am Sunday service. On the other weeks, children are invited to make use of the books and tabletop activities set out in the Harbour Café.
In addition to our Sunday morning activities, children are invited to special services at Christmas and Easter, and to our fun-filled summer garden party.
If you haven’t heard of Messy Church activities before, well, it’s a great opportunity for children to have lots of ‘messy’ fun! This involves creativity, celebration and hospitality on special festival dates in the year. Children enjoy crafts, games and stories and receive a free lunch at the end of the session. Please note, parents and carers will need to be able to stay with their child during Messy Church activities. Photos on the right are from Messy St. Valentine’s.
Youth Urban Disciples
This is a unique, creative project which seeks to help young people to be more confident in their faith. Young people are able to understand and develop their discipleship in an urban context.
For more information on all Young Church activities please contact our Children and Youth Missioner, Revd. Joycelyn Lewis-Gregory via email: email@example.com or call 0121 306 4820.
The Lighthouse at St Barnabas is a lovely modern, bright and airy venue that met our needs perfectly. The team were accommodating, making us feel very welcome and ensuring our needs and those of our delegates were met throughout the day.
