Laurel and Hardy night a great success

September’s film club night was a great success with a Laurel and Hardy triple bill and birthday cake for all!

Everyone loves Laurel and Hardy and film goers enjoyed watching TIT FOR TAT, THE MUSIC BOX and LAUGHING GRAVY.

Alongside the films, there was an informative talk by Erdington’s own John Ullah, (pictured right with a commemorative booklet) a respected Laurel and Hardy expert who revealed a wealth of facts about about Birmingham’s own Charlie Hall, a comic actor who featured in nearly 50 Laurel and Hardy films.

And why the birthday cake?  Well, it was the 25th Birthday celebration of the Laughing Gravy Tent of Birmingham, also known as the Birmingham branch of the Laurel and Hardy Appreciation Society.

Phyllis Hollister is seen cutting the wonderful celebration birthday cake and everyone attending enjoyed a slice.

Graham Hollister who runs the film club said: ” The Laurel and Hardy evening was a great event and because the feedback was so positive we will look to do another one in 2019 so, watch this space”.

The next St. Barnabas Film Club night is Friday 5th October and the film is Eddie the Eagle starring Hugh Jackman.  The film starts at 7.30pm and tickets are £5 on the door.
