Welcome to our new vicar!
We are delighted to welcome the Rev. Emma Sykes as the new vicar here at St.Barnabas. Here’s an introductory message from Emma:
Hello, I am delighted to be appointed as the next Vicar of St Barnabas Erdington and I am looking forward to getting to know everyone, albeit in very creative ways at the moment. I have been ordained for 12 years and for the first six of those years I was at St Martin in the Bull Ring in Birmingham City Centre. For the last six years I have had a collection of different roles that have included working in Birmingham Diocese in the area of Vocations (helping people to discern where God is calling them), working for CPAS, a mission agency in the area of Leadership and Vocations and I have been an Assistant Missioner at St. Michael’s Church in Boldmere. I am married to Mac (also known as Andrew) and we have two teenage boys, Jacob (18) and Joel (16).
I am excited to be given this opportunity to serve not only the church at St Barnabas, but also the wider community and I am looking forward to journeying with you all to continue to grow and discern God’s kingdom purposes for the people and place of Erdington.
