Part-Time Community Hub Assistant
Location: St Barnabas Church Centre, High Street, Erdington, B23 6SY
Salary: £12.60 per hour (Real Living Wage)
Hours: 12 hours per week
Contract: 3-year fixed-term contract (subject to a 3-month probation period)
About the Role
We are seeking a warm, reliable and motivated Community Hub Assistant to join our friendly team at St Barnabas Church’s Community Hub in Erdington. Thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, this new part-time role will support the delivery of activities that promote wellbeing and inclusion in our diverse local community.
As part of our Christian ministry, the Community Hub offers a welcoming space to support vulnerable individuals through weekly groups and activities. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping others, values community, and enjoys working in a varied and people-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and support the weekly Barny Babies stay and play group (term time only)
Support the running of a weekly ESOL class (term time only)
Assist with Thursday morning and Friday afternoon Warm Welcome spaces
Help connect people with relevant local support services
Maintain accurate records for monitoring and evaluation
Be trained and ready to act as a First Aider and Mental Health First Aider
Support occasional cover for other sessions when required
What We’re Looking For
Friendly, sensitive, and non-judgemental
Reliable, punctual, and confidential
Able to support people facing complex challenges (e.g. mental health, isolation, addiction)
Comfortable working as part of a team and supporting volunteers
Flexible, self-motivated and well-organised
Able to adhere to the Christian vision and values of the church
Willing to undertake necessary training (First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, Basic Food Hygiene)
Core Hours
Monday: 10am – 4pm
Thursday: 10am – 1pm
Friday: 1.30pm – 4.30pm
*Flexibility is required for occasional cover outside these hours (with notice given).

£12.60 per hour, with annual increases in line with the Real Living Wage
