‘The Meaning is in the Waiting’ an Advent course by Paula Gooder

Advent is a season shaped by anticipation – a time when we pause, watch, and wait with hope. This course invites us to slow down and reflect on what it means to wait faithfully. Using Paula Gooder’s reflections, we will explore the four traditional themes represented by the candles on the Advent wreath.

    • Week One: Abraham and Sarah

    • Week Two: The Prophets

    • Week Three: John the Baptist

    • Week Four: Mary

Over four weeks in Advent, you are invited to join a group and explore together as we journey towards Christmas. All are very welcome!

Please contact Emma at vicar@stbarnabaserdington.org.uk to confirm attendance.

  • Saturday 20th December 2025
    10am–12pm
    Churchyard

The final Churchyard Working Group meeting of 2025 will be a Christmas gathering with mince pies and mulled wine – a little end of year thank you to our volunteers for all their hard work. It will also be a chance to reflect on the year and put forward ideas and plans for 2026.

Do you have a special connection to St Barnabas Churchyard? If you are passionate about community, nature, or simply want to make a positive impact, we need YOU!

Whether you are an experienced gardener or just eager to lend a hand, everyone is welcome. The project is thoroughly risk assessed, and volunteers will be provided with all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure safety.

Together, we can transform the churchyard into a safe and serene space for everyone.

Please ensure you wear suitable footwear and clothing, considering the weather!
